What I do

I am a freelance business journalist, specialising in entrepreneurship and small businesses.

Feel free to ring me to discuss a commission. I am able to complete difficult assignments at very short notice. Over the last ten years I've written a huge amount on the following subjects:

Career

I am the former editor of EuroBusiness magazine and deputy editor of Real Business magazine, and have written for The Guardian, The Grocer, Barclays 360, Financial Management, LQ, Real FD, The Marketer and the CBI's magazine, Business Voice.

My specialism is interviewing entrepreneurs. Memorable interviews include John Caudwell on the day he banked £2.4bn and the "kitchen gangster" Vance Miller. I also cover politics, and have interviewed David Cameron, the President of Estonia, the prime minister of Lithuania and countless MPs and MEPs. I am dedicated researcher and authored a pioneering study of the backgrounds of all 355 Labour MPs which revealed only seven have ever founded a business. To read these articles, see the Articles section.

I also write about technology issues such as open source software, mobile phone applications and wikinomics.

In 2006 I won the PPA Business Writer of the Year award.
